Job Title: Finance & Payroll Assistant

Location: Ebbw Vale

Employment Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 8.30am - 5pm Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 4pm on a Friday. This role will involve an out of hours flexible approach.

Candour Talent are currently recruiting for a Finance & Payroll Assistant to join our team. We have branches across South Wales and various sub sectors.

This role presents a unique chance to become a part of a dedicated team within a well-established Recruitment business.

Job Description - Finance & Payroll Assistant

  • Payroll preparation of all new starters

  • Processing and paying invoices;

  • Schedule payment of approved invoices;

  • Managing invoice tracking, balancing and payments through banking system;

  • Allocate payments against outstanding invoices and credits;

  • Preparing and distributing checks to employees and vendors;

  • Updating computerised accounting systems;

  • Compiling and assisting with tax return information, VAT returns and National Insurance calculations;

  • Checking and updating ledger balances;

  • Scanning, filing and logging accounts documents;

  • Processing bank transfer requests;

  • Input purchase ledger invoices for approval ;

  • Liaise with suppliers regarding invoice queries, remittance information etc;

  • Process expense and mileage returns from the sales team (Excel);

  • Raise ad-hoc invoices to suppliers for product support services;

  • Processing timesheets and salary payments through system;

  • Ensure employees salary calculations paid monthly / weekly - on time and accurately;

  • Processing salary increases and National Minimum Wage calculations;

  • Assist with the production of relevant finance reports

  • Update Sage system with information from time and attendance system (eg overtime, sickness, etc);

  • Maintain accurate records of employee information, including personal details, tax withholding, and benefits;

  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management and other relevant parties as needed;

  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and benefits;

  • Assist in the implementation of payroll-related policies, procedures, and systems

Candidate requirements:

  • Thorough attention to detail

  • Excellent maths knowledge

  • Ability to use own initiative.

  • Customer service skills

  • Flexibility and open-mindedness

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • The ability to work well with others.

  • Understanding of how to use common industry software - Sage, PrimePro an advantage but not essential.

  • AAT Qualification desired but not essential.
