Maintenance Engineer
Location: Caerphilly, South Wales
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Candour Talent is proud to be representing a leading manufacturing organisation in their search for a Maintenance Engineer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to provide both mechanical and electrical maintenance support across a busy production site, contributing to the smooth running of manufacturing operations and site facilities.
Role Purpose
The Maintenance Engineer will deliver preventative and reactive maintenance across all manufacturing processes, machinery, and site infrastructure. You'll play a key role in minimising downtime, improving reliability, and supporting continuous improvement efforts across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM), including scheduling and execution
- Provide mechanical breakdown cover across all site activities
- Deliver electrical fault finding, repair, and maintenance
- Support site and building maintenance activities
- Contribute input during specification of new manufacturing equipment
- Lead equipment installation, including electrical and pneumatic services
- Participate actively in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Provide guidance on installation/service requirements for power, air, and utilities
- Supervise contractors working on-site, ensuring safety and compliance
- Maintain and support corporate objectives, KPI targets, and department goals
Health, Safety, and Environment
Adhere strictly to PPE and health & safety procedures
Follow all Covid-19 risk management measures
Report any H&S issues to the Shift Manager
Understand site fire evacuation, manual handling, and COSHH requirements
Maintain excellent housekeeping and 5S standards
Continuous Improvement and People Development
Participate in CI initiatives, cost-reduction projects, and workgroups
Assist with new starter inductions and support team training needs
Take part in annual appraisals and personal development discussions
Commit to overtime and time/attendance targets where needed
What We're Looking For
Work Experience:
Strong electrical fault-finding experience
Automation and robotics knowledge
Experience with chemical process lines
CNC machining experience
Broad mechanical maintenance background
Qualifications and Skills:
Ideally NVQ Level 4 or HNC background
Electrical qualifications (18th Edition BS7671)
Strong English communication (oral and written)
IT literacy, including MS Office
Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, gearboxes, bearings, fans, etc.
Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
Personal Characteristics:
Organised, structured, and reliable
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong work ethic and time management
Good problem-solving and analytical abilities
Other:
Full valid driving licence
Willingness to travel if required
