Senior Machinist & Tooling Tradesperson

Location: Caerphilly, South Wales
Department: Maintenance / Tooling
Hours: Monday-Friday, 07:00-15:00 (37.5 hrs/week)

Candour Talent Recruitment is proud to be exclusively representing a long-established aerospace maintenance and repair organisation based in Caerphilly, South Wales. We're currently recruiting for a skilled and experienced Senior Machinist & Tooling Tradesperson to join their growing team.

This is a hands-on role for someone confident operating a wide range of workshop machinery and inspection tools, as well as contributing to the manufacture and maintenance of fixtures, tooling, and parts for various aircraft components.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture and fabricate tooling, fixtures, inserts, and aircraft components based on engineering specifications.

  • Operate equipment including:

  • Bridport vertical miller

  • Pillar drill

  • Colchester NC lathe

  • Surface grinder

  • Brenner NC vertical miller

  • Perform inspection and alignment using:

  • Romer Scan Arm with Geomagic or Spatial Analyzer CAD software

  • Leica Laser Tracker and Brunson Optical Equipment

  • Weld using MIG and assist with basic fabrication tasks.

  • Manufacture caul sheets, shop aids, and support equipment as needed.

  • Carry out measurement and calibration activities using micrometers, dial indicators, and standard tools.

  • Maintain the tooling calibration database, including both electronic and hardcopy records.


    What We're Looking For

    Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Recognised apprenticeship or vocational training in Maintenance Machining.

  • Minimum 5 years' hands-on machining experience in a toolroom or aerospace setting.

  • Confident operating a MIG welder and performing basic fabrication work.

  • Experience using Romer Scan Arm, Geomagic / Spatial Analyzer, and Leica Laser Tracker (preferred).

  • Good understanding of calibration and inspection processes.

Technical Competencies:

  • Comfortable with engineering drawings, tolerances, and inspection standards.

  • IT literate - able to use Microsoft Office and web-based systems.

Personal Attributes:

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Quality-focused with a practical and problem-solving approach.

  • Organised, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Clear written and verbal communication.
