Quality Engineer (Manufacturing)
Candour Talent Recruitment is excited to be working with a leading manufacturing company to recruit a Quality Engineer based in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to play a key part in driving continual improvement and maintaining exceptional quality standards across the manufacturing operation.
The Role
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for auditing processes, implementing improvement programmes, and ensuring the effectiveness of quality management systems. You will support internal teams, customers, and suppliers to maintain compliance and foster excellence in production and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct audits in line with pre-scheduled plans to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Provide customer support both within the UK and abroad.
- Train, develop, and support the workforce to improve understanding of quality requirements.
- Assist in the resolution of customer concerns and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Support APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as SMED and PPM reduction projects.
- Investigate issues to prevent recurrence, ensuring appropriate quality tools are in place.
- Manage customer concerns, coordinating responses and verifying corrective actions.
- Monitor production data to identify opportunities to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Maintain and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Provide support for calibration requirements.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Good understanding of ISO9001:2015 and TS16949:2016.
- Fully conversant in quality tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, 5S, and Lean principles.
- Ideally, trained in CMM software (PcDmis) and TS16949 internal auditing.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interface effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Previous experience in the automotive or a similar high-paced manufacturing sector.
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
