Job Overview

A Laboratory Technician in a manufacturing environment who is responsible for conducting various tests and analyses on polymer materials to ensure quality and compliance. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with the production and quality teams to support the development and manufacturing of a range of polymer products. The role will also be involved with the product development, formulation, production and testing of laboratory samples, while ensuring the laboratory conforms to regulatory standards such as REACH, ISO 9001 & ISO 14001.

The Role:

  • Conduct Tests and Analyses: Perform chemical and physical tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to evaluate properties such as tensile strength, elasticity, and durability

  • Quality Control: Ensure that all products meet specified quality standards by identifying defects and recommending process improvements

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all tests and analyses, including data entry and report generation

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to the production team and assist in troubleshooting issues related to polymer materials

  • Research and Development: Assist in the development of new polymer formulations and processes by conducting experiments and providing feedback

  • Maintenance of good housekeeping within the department

  • Comply with company rules, regulations, and practices at all times

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.

  • 2-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in the polymer or manufacturing industry

  • Knowledge of ISO quality management systems an advantage

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills

  • Motivated and resilient
